Riad Alena Residency

In 2022, Pie was invited to Marrakech for a two-month artist residency at Riad Alena, a boutique hotel that provided her with both accommodation and a rooftop studio. The residency culminated in a pop-up exhibition and event hosted within the Riad, with 20% of proceeds donated to local orphanage organisation Fiers et Forts.

During her time in Morocco, Pie travelled across the Essaouira coastline, the Agafay Desert, and the Atlas Mountains, drawing inspiration from the diversity of landscapes and cultures. The residency became a space for experimentation, pushing her to work more instinctively within a condensed timeframe. Immersed in the vibrant energy of the Marrakech souks, she embraced a bolder palette and looser brushwork—resulting in a vivid, expressive body of work that reflected both her surroundings and a shift in her creative process.
